Malta, NY (May 6, 2025) – A two-vehicle crash occurred on June 1, 2025, at approximately 9:03 p.m. at the intersection of State Route 9 and State Route 9P in the town of Malta, involving a marked State Police patrol vehicle. The crash took place when a Mazda, driven by 26-year-old Denis R. Collingwood of Ballston Spa, NY, attempted to turn left onto Route 9P and failed to yield to the northbound patrol vehicle.

The preliminary investigation revealed that the Trooper was traveling northbound on Route 9, following the green light, when the Mazda collided with the State Police patrol vehicle. The Trooper was transported to Malta Med for evaluation but was later released with no serious injuries.

Collingwood, who exhibited signs of impairment, was arrested for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. He was issued an appearance ticket, with a court date scheduled for June 26, 2025, at the Malta Town Court.
