Philadelphia, PA – One Dead, Two Arrested After Stolen SUV Crash on N 2nd Street

2 in custody after deadly crash

Philadelphia, PA (October 16, 2025) – A deadly crash in Philadelphia’s East Oak Lane section on Tuesday night led to the death of one individual and the arrest of two suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle.

Around 11 p.m., 14th October, 2025, the driver of a stolen 2024 Dodge Durango was speeding through the intersection of N 2nd Street and Cheltenham Avenue when the vehicle collided with several parked cars before striking a Hyundai Sonata. The impact of the collision left a significant amount of wreckage scattered across the intersection, which divides Philadelphia from Cheltenham Township.

The driver of the Hyundai Sonata was pronounced dead at the scene, while another individual inside a black Chevy Tahoe sustained injuries. The suspects, a male driver and passenger in the stolen Dodge Durango, were arrested shortly after the crash.

Local resident Susan, who heard the crash and witnessed the aftermath, described it as a powerful impact. “With the windows closed, you could tell it was serious,” she said. She also expressed concern about the dangers of speeding in the area, saying, “There’s so much speeding going on. It’s just very dangerous.”

Philadelphia police are continuing their investigation, reviewing surveillance footage, and collecting evidence at the scene. As of now, no charges have been filed against the arrested suspects, though the investigation remains ongoing.
