Cumberland County, PA – Truck Rollover Injures Driver on Turnpike Off-Ramp

Truck Rollover Injures Driver

Cumberland County, PA (December 3, 2025) – A driver was hospitalized after their tractor-trailer overturned on the Pennsylvania Turnpike early Wednesday morning in Cumberland County.

The commercial vehicle crash occurred around 3:35 a.m. on the off-ramp for Exit 226 at the Carlisle interchange, as the tractor-trailer was actively leaving the Turnpike. According to a Turnpike Commission supervisor, the roadway remained accessible around the scene, though PennDOT warned drivers to expect delays as crews responded to the rollover.

The injured driver was transported for treatment, and Mahoning Township police are currently investigating the circumstances of the single-vehicle crash.

Understanding Liability After a Commercial Truck Rollover in Pennsylvania

Accidents involving tractor-trailers, particularly rollovers on ramps, are legally complex due to the highly regulated nature of the trucking industry and the number of potentially liable parties. While the driver is responsible for maintaining control, liability in a commercial vehicle crash often extends far beyond the driver to include the carrier and owner. A legal investigation into this rollover would scrutinize multiple areas regulated by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), assessing whether the driver took the ramp at an unsafe speed, if the truck was properly maintained, or if the cargo was improperly loaded and secured, as load balancing is a frequent cause of rollovers on turns.
