Afton, NY (November 3, 2025) – Two people were injured following a collision between a pickup truck and a Department of Transportation (DOT) Attenuator on I-88 Eastbound. The accident occurred just after 11:00 a.m. on Monday, 3rd November, near the Afton and Bainbridge exits.

According to New York State Police, the pickup truck, which was towing a trailer with picnic tables, collided with a DOT vehicle. Two individuals in the pickup truck were transported to Wilson Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, six other DOT workers present at the time were uninjured.

The eastbound lanes of I-88 were initially closed between Exit 7 and Exit 8 for several hours while crews cleared the scene. Traffic was diverted through State Route 7 as a detour.

Both lanes of I-88 Eastbound were reopened by 4:00 p.m., and normal traffic flow resumed. The New York State Police are continuing their investigation into the crash.
