Schoharie, NY (November 19, 2025) – Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries on Wednesday following a crash involving two tractor-trailers on Interstate 88 eastbound near mile marker 102, according to the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred around 11:45 a.m. on 19th Nov, 2025, prompting authorities to close the eastbound lanes. Drivers were diverted off at Exit 23 and allowed to re-enter at Exit 24 while crews responded.
Officials also confirmed that the crash caused a roadway spill of a non-hazardous, water-soluble dye made from titanium dioxide, commonly used in leather treatment. Cleanup teams worked to remove the material before the roadway could safely reopen.
Investigators have not yet announced the cause of the crash, and the incident remains under review.
Tractor-Trailer Collisions on New York Highways
Crashes involving commercial trucks often stem from factors such as improper lane changes, fatigue, mechanical failure, or unsecured cargo. Even when injuries appear minor, victims may later experience complications due to the force of impact. New York law permits those injured in truck-related collisions to pursue compensation for medical costs, lost wages, and other accident-related damages once liability is established.
