Bethlehem, NY – Woman Killed, Three Injured in Three-Car Crash on I-87 Thruway

Bethlehem, NY (November 1, 2025) – A female driver was killed, and three others were injured in a three-vehicle collision on the New York State Thruway (I-87) near Exit 23 in Bethlehem, according to State Police.

The crash occurred around 4:44 p.m. when William F. McAllister, 37, of Ringgold, Virginia, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet sedan northbound in the left lane at a high rate of speed. McAllister attempted to merge into the right lane, sideswiping a 2009 Ram pickup truck before veering back into the left lane and rear-ending a 2025 Chevrolet sedan.

The Chevrolet sedan’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said. A passenger in that vehicle was taken to Albany Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and passenger of the pickup truck were transported to Albany Memorial Hospital, also with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say McAllister showed no signs of impairment after field sobriety testing and a preliminary breath test came back negative for alcohol. He was transported to Albany Medical Center for evaluation and later charged with multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.

The State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) continues to investigate the fatal crash.

Understanding Liability in Multi-Vehicle Crashes

High-speed and multi-vehicle collisions often lead to devastating injuries and loss of life. Under New York law, negligent drivers can be held accountable for damages, including medical bills, lost income, and wrongful death claims. Victims and families should seek legal counsel to ensure proper investigation, evidence preservation, and fair compensation.
