Woodhull, NY (June 18, 2025) – One person has died following a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred late Wednesday morning on State Route 417 in the town of Woodhull, Steuben County, according to the New York State Police.
At approximately 11:34 a.m., troopers from the Painted Post barracks responded to a collision near 5977 State Route 417. Investigators say an 84-year-old man was driving a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 northbound from a field and attempted to cross SR 417 to access a driveway when the vehicle was struck by an eastbound 2019 Chrysler Pacifica.
The Chrysler, operated by 46-year-old Kelly A. Bills of Woodhull, collided with the Dodge Ram, causing both vehicles to erupt into flames. The operator of the Dodge Ram was pronounced deceased at the scene. Bills managed to escape her vehicle and was transported to Guthrie Corning Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) is leading the investigation. Emergency response efforts included assistance from multiple local fire departments, emergency medical services, the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, NYS Department of Transportation, and the Steuben County Coroner.
The crash remains under active investigation.
