Brooklyn, NY (September 15, 2025) – A 71-year-old man was injured Sunday morning, 14th September, 2025, after being struck by a car driven by a 15-year-old at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Hegeman Avenue in the East New York neighborhood of Brooklyn.
According to police, the teen, who is legally too young to drive, was traveling the wrong way in a black Honda Accord when the vehicle went airborne and struck a utility pole. The man, standing on the curb at the time, was hit but sustained injuries that were reported as stable. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Video footage captured the car’s impact and showed the teen fleeing the scene immediately afterward. Responding officers chased and later located the driver, who is now being questioned as a person of interest.
Authorities charged the 15-year-old with grand larceny, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal possession of stolen property, reckless endangerment, and obstructing governmental administration.
Emergency crews cleared debris from the street, and the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
