Madison County, NY (October 20, 2025) – Laurie Jones, 70, of East Amherst, tragically died Sunday afternoon following a two-vehicle collision in Madison County, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded to the crash around 4:54 p.m. in the area of State Route 12 and Tackabury Road after reports of a serious motor vehicle accident.
An investigation revealed that 18-year-old Austin Thurlow, of Cheektowaga, was driving a 2018 Nissan Rogue eastbound on Tackabury Road and attempted to turn north onto Route 12. Deputies said Thurlow’s SUV pulled into the path of a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 towing a horse trailer, driven by 34-year-old Julia Dillon of Hamilton.
The Silverado struck the Rogue, causing severe injuries to passenger Laurie Jones, who was transported to Hamilton Hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Authorities have not reported any additional injuries, and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the cause of the fatal crash.
