15-year-old driver involved in deadly Cheektowaga crash

Cheektowaga, NY (October 25, 2025) – A 54-year-old woman was killed in a two-car crash late Thursday night in Cheektowaga, after being struck by a vehicle reportedly driven by a 15-year-old.

According to the Cheektowaga Police Department, the collision occurred around 11:30 p.m. near the off-ramp of the eastbound Kensington Expressway at Union Road. The crash involved a white Scion and a black Toyota Highlander.

Investigators say the woman, who was the driver and sole occupant of the Scion, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released pending notification of her family.

Police confirmed that the driver and passenger of the Highlander, both 15-year-old juveniles, remained at the scene and were located by officers. Authorities are investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision, including how an unlicensed minor gained access to the vehicle.

The Cheektowaga Police Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the crash.

Fatal Crashes Involving Unlicensed Drivers

Crashes caused by underage or unlicensed drivers often raise complex legal questions for victims’ families. In New York, families of those killed in such collisions may pursue wrongful death claims against the driver, the vehicle’s owner, and any adults responsible for supervising the minors. Compensation can cover funeral expenses, lost income, and emotional suffering. An experienced New York auto accident attorney can help families navigate these legal challenges and hold negligent parties accountable.
