Question: Safety and security on the Internet. We spoke last week about Facebook and social media. What other considerations should you be thinking about with respect to Internet security even as far as your finances or other personal information?
Joe: We know that the government has access to almost anything that travels in the digital world. We also know or we should know, there are hackers out there and there are people out there that can get and will get access to your information if they exhibit the will to do so. You have to understand what your risks are and take the precautions that are available in terms of passwords, what you are willing to expose for use on the Internet in terms of finances and in terms of confidential information. You have to be careful. There is a balance between risks and convenience. You have to make the choice but it has to be a knowledgeable choice of what you are getting involved in.
