North Hills, PA (September 26, 2025) – A 19-year-old woman, Addalena Maiette, was killed early Wednesday morning on 24th September, 2025, in a multi-vehicle crash at the Ross Township–West View border.
The Allegheny County Police reported the incident occurred just after 6 a.m. at the intersection of Highland and Cornell Avenues. Responders found Maiette deceased at the scene, while the driver of another vehicle involved was unharmed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that three vehicles were stopped in the left-hand lane of Highland Avenue. When the third vehicle attempted to pass the two stopped cars by merging into the oncoming lane, one of the first vehicles tried to make a left turn, causing the collision. Police said the extensive damage makes it difficult to determine which vehicle was attempting to pass and which was turning.
The crash also caused power outages in the area, prompting Northgate Middle-High School to cancel classes and activities for the day. Authorities are continuing to investigate the exact cause of the crash.
