Gowanus, NY (September 14, 2025) – One person died and four others were injured in a three-car crash in Brooklyn’s Gowanus neighborhood Sunday afternoon. Police have made an arrest as the investigation into the fatal collision continues.
Emergency crews responded to the crash around 6:25 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 2nd Avenue and 9th Street.
According to police, a Honda minivan, driven by a 38-year-old man, with a 64-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman as passengers, initially collided with a Mercedes-Benz. This Mercedes was driven by a 34-year-old man. The impact then forced the Mercedes into a Dodge, operated by a 49-year-old man.
The 34-year-old Mercedes-Benz driver was taken to a Brooklyn hospital, where he was pronounced dead. All three occupants of the Honda minivan were also hospitalized. Officials confirmed the 38-year-old woman from the minivan is in critical condition. The 49-year-old Dodge driver is in stable condition at a local hospital.
Police have confirmed one person is in custody in connection with the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
