Three seriously injured after car hits horse and buggy

Barrington, NY (October 27, 2025) – Authorities confirmed that three people, including a child, were seriously injured Sunday afternoon after a car collided with a horse and buggy in Barrington, Yates County.

According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 2:34 p.m. on 26th October, 2025, on Six Corners Road. Investigators said 38-year-old Alisha Wheeler, of Dundee, was driving southbound when her vehicle struck the buggy from behind.

The impact caused extensive damage to both the car and buggy and ejected the buggy’s occupants, 31-year-old Daniel Nolt, 25-year-old Linda Nolt, and a child. All three were airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester with serious injuries.

Wheeler and her passenger were uninjured in the collision. Deputies cited Wheeler for following too closely as the investigation continues.

Understanding Horse and Buggy Accidents in New York

Collisions involving horse-drawn buggies often lead to severe or fatal injuries due to the limited protection available to the occupants. In New York, drivers must exercise extra caution around slow-moving vehicles, including Amish and Mennonite transportation. Failing to maintain a safe distance or pay attention can lead to devastating consequences.

Victims of such crashes or their families may have the right to pursue personal injury claims for medical costs, pain and suffering, and other losses. Consulting an experienced New York vehicle crash lawyer can help ensure accountability and fair compensation after a serious buggy-related collision.
