DeWitt, NY (July 30, 2025) – According to DeWitt Police, an Amazon van made a U-turn on Kirkville Road Wednesday night, causing a crash with two motorcyclists.
The two motorcycles were traveling east on Kirkville Road at about 8:50 p.m. when the van, which was stopped on the shoulder, attempted a U-Turn and crossed into their lane, according to DeWitt Police Chief Shane Spencer. The motorcyclists were identified as Todd Streiff, 41, and Corey Sgarlata, 36, both of Kirkville. Streiff was taken to Upstate University Hospital by ambulance and has since been released. Sgarlata was also taken to Upstate and is now listed in stable condition, after being in critical condition Wednesday night. The driver of the Amazon van, Amanuel Yohannes, 24, of Syracuse, suffered no injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation into the crash is ongoing. Police closed Kirkville Road from Roberts Street to Benedict Road for over three hours on Wednesday night.
