Hanover, PA (October 30, 2025) – A driver was seriously injured and airlifted to a trauma center after a two-vehicle crash involving a sedan and a flatbed tractor-trailer on Wednesday afternoon in Hanover Borough, according to York County 911 records.
The collision occurred around 3:20 p.m. on 29th October, 2025, in the 400 block of Eisenhower Drive, near the shopping complex corridor. Authorities said the sedan became wedged underneath the rear of a flatbed truck, prompting a large emergency response.
Hanover Area Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Joe Wysocki confirmed that the driver of the sedan sustained serious injuries and required air medical transport via Life Lion 3 helicopter from Carlisle. Public flight records indicate the patient was flown to WellSpan York Hospital for treatment.
All lanes of Eisenhower Drive were temporarily shut down to allow the helicopter to land safely across the westbound lanes. Eastbound lanes reopened shortly after the medevac departed, while westbound lanes remained closed until around 5 p.m., as crews removed the damaged vehicles and cleared debris.
Hanover Borough Police are leading the investigation into what caused the crash. Details about the driver’s identity and the circumstances surrounding the collision have not yet been released.
Liability in Rear-End and Underride Truck Crashes
Crashes involving vehicles sliding underneath tractor-trailers, known as underride collisions, are among the most dangerous on the road. These incidents can result from sudden stops, poor visibility, or a lack of underride guards, and they often lead to life-threatening injuries.
Victims of such crashes or their families may have the right to pursue compensation from negligent truck operators, employers, or maintenance providers. An experienced Pennsylvania trailer-tractor accident lawyer can help investigate contributing factors, secure evidence from vehicle data recorders, and hold responsible parties accountable for safety lapses.
