Cohoes, NY (August 18, 2025) – A 19-year-old Troy man has been charged in the death of 93-year-old Charles Allendorph, who was struck by a vehicle in Cohoes on Monday morning. The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. near Newark and Congress streets, and Allendorph was taken to Albany Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Witnesses, including Shane Moore, described seeing the driver of a gray SUV blow a stop sign and strike the elderly man, who then rolled off the hood and became trapped under the vehicle. Moore yelled for the driver to stop, but the driver, later identified as Kemaury Everett, fled the scene.
Cohoes Police, with the help of witness statements and license plate readers, were able to locate Everett’s vehicle within an hour. He was found later that afternoon, after attempting to report his car stolen. Everett was arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death.
Everett has a 1-year-old child and another child on the way. He was also indicted in June on felony drug charges. Authorities praised the collaborative effort of multiple law enforcement agencies in quickly making the arrest.
