Southeast, NY (October 22, 2025) – A 74-year-old woman was tragically killed Tuesday morning following a head-on collision with a tractor-trailer in the town of Southeast, according to the New York State Police at Brewster.
Investigators say the crash happened around 7:46 a.m. on 21st October, 2025, on Route 312, when a Honda CR-V driven by Eleana Silk of Carmel was traveling eastbound and crossed into the westbound lane, colliding head-on with a 2023 Freightliner tractor-trailer.
Emergency responders pronounced Silk dead at the scene. The truck driver was not injured, and the roadway was temporarily closed as troopers conducted an on-site investigation and cleared debris.
Authorities have not yet determined why the Honda crossed the center line, and the crash remains under investigation by New York State Police.
Our deepest sympathies go out to the family and friends of Eleana Silk during this tragic time.
