hit-and-run involving an ambulance on Clifford Avenue

Rochester, NY (October 28, 2025) – The Rochester Police Department (RPD) is investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred Monday evening involving an AMR ambulance on the city’s northeast side.

Authorities say the crash happened around 8:00 p.m. on 27th October, 2025, at the intersection of North Goodman Street and Clifford Avenue, when a white SUV struck the side of the ambulance before fleeing the scene.

According to investigators, the SUV was traveling in the same direction as the ambulance and side-swiped it while attempting to merge into traffic. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and officials confirmed that no patients were on board the ambulance at the time.

Police are asking anyone with information or surveillance footage from the area to contact the Rochester Police Department as the search for the suspect vehicle continues.

Leaving the scene of a crash is a serious offense under New York law, particularly when it involves an emergency vehicle. Even if no one is injured, the fleeing driver can face criminal charges, including fines, license suspension, or jail time.

Victims of hit-and-run accidents, including first responders or medical personnel, may also be entitled to insurance or injury compensation for property damage and emotional distress.
