Dunkirk, NY (September 27, 2025) – Joseph Damico, 44, of Dunkirk, was killed on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025, in a two-vehicle collision on State Route 5 in the Town of Portland, New York, according to New York State Police.
Troopers reported that a pursuit began after Damico was observed driving a Jeep westbound on Route 5. The chase lasted approximately six minutes and ended when Damico’s Jeep struck the rear of a Toyota. Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest in a steep drainage ditch.
Damico was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota was uninjured. The New York State Attorney General’s Office is involved in the ongoing investigation.
