Albany, NY (September 11, 2025) – Multiple people were injured in a downtown crash on Wednesday morning at the intersection of South Pearl Street and Morton Avenue in Albany. The crash occurred around 9:45 a.m. on September 10, 2025, near the Albany County Board of Elections building.
According to police, Brandon Labelle, 29, of Halfmoon, crossed the yellow line, passed through a red light, and struck two vehicles before hitting and dragging a pedestrian on the sidewalk.
Injuries reported:
- One vehicle passenger sustained a broken neck and facial lacerations.
- Two additional passengers and the pedestrian were also injured, but all were expected to survive.
- All victims were transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.
Labelle required medical attention following the crash. Police found him in possession of drug paraphernalia. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs, second-degree vehicular assault, and other offenses. He was arraigned in City Court on Wednesday afternoon and taken to Albany County Jail.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances of the crash. Contributing factors such as speed, traffic signals, and impairment are being reviewed as part of the inquiry.
