Brooklyn, NY – NYPD Officer, 30, Killed in Fiery Hit-and-Run Crash on BQE

Fatal Motorcycle accident on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway

Brooklyn, NY (August 27, 2025) – A 30-year-old NYPD officer was killed Wednesday morning in a fiery hit-and-run crash on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE). The officer was on his motorcycle heading toward the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge when he was struck by a box truck near the Atlantic Ave. exit in Cobble Hill at around 8:50 a.m.

The impact threw the officer onto the asphalt, while his motorcycle continued forward, hitting a wall and bursting into flames, as shown in social media footage.

The driver of the box truck fled the scene, and police are investigating the incident. No arrests have been made as of now.
