Officer Michael Hyland, 53, Injured After Motorcycle Crashes

Lindenhurst, NY (October 8, 2025) – Nassau County Police Officer Michael Hyland, 53, was critically injured Monday morning when his motorcycle collided with a car during a funeral procession in Lindenhurst.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. on 6th October, 2025, near North Wellwood Avenue and Jerome Street. Hyland was riding a 2020 Harley-Davidson when he struck a 2020 Toyota Tundra. The driver of the car, a 61-year-old man, was not injured.

Officer Hyland was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and any contributing factors.
