Albany, NY (October 13, 2025) – A fatal wrong-way crash on I-787 northbound claimed one life early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on 12 October 2025, near Exit 2, when a vehicle traveling northbound collided head-on with another car.

The driver of the northbound vehicle, whose identity has not been released, sustained serious injuries and was declared dead at the scene. The driver of the wrong-way vehicle, who was traveling southbound on I-787, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

As a result of the collision, all northbound lanes of I-787 between the Thruway and Exit 3 are closed while investigators work on reconstructing the scene. The lanes are expected to reopen around noon.
