Nassau, NY – One Dead, One Seriously Injured in Head-On Crash on State Route 20

Nassau, NY (November 10, 2025) – One person was killed and another seriously injured following a two-vehicle head-on collision Monday afternoon in the Town of Nassau, according to New York State Police.

Troopers responded to the crash around 2:10 p.m. on 10th Nov, 2025, on State Route 20, where investigators determined that an eastbound vehicle crossed into the opposing lane, striking a westbound vehicle head-on.

The driver of the westbound vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, while the eastbound driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center for treatment.

State Route 20 was closed between State Route 66 and Kinderhook Lane for several hours while authorities conducted a collision reconstruction investigation. The roadway has since reopened.

The cause of the crash remains under active investigation by New York State Police.

Understanding Head-On Collision Liability in New York

Head-on crashes are among the most severe types of motor vehicle accidents, often resulting in catastrophic or fatal injuries. In New York, these collisions frequently occur due to distracted driving, impairment, or fatigue.

When another driver’s negligence causes such a collision, surviving victims and families of the deceased may pursue compensation through a personal injury or wrongful death claim. Damages may include medical expenses, funeral costs, loss of income, and emotional suffering.

Consulting with an experienced New York head-on car accident lawyer ensures that evidence is preserved, liability is established, and victims’ rights are protected during the investigation.
