Clarkstown, NY – One Killed, One Injured in Rear-End Crash on Thruway

Clarkstown, NY (August 11, 2025) – One motorist was killed and another seriously injured in a two-car crash early Monday morning on the northbound Thruway in Clarkstown. The accident occurred around 12:40 a.m. when a Ford rear-ended a disabled 2009 Nissan, which was partially in the lane of travel on the shoulder.

State Police confirmed that the disabled vehicle’s lights were off at the time of the crash. The driver of the Nissan, 47-year-old Steven Redner of Tallman, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Ford, a 25-year-old man from Elmsford, sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla for treatment.

Nanuet EMS and the Nanuet Fire Department assisted at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation by State Police.
