Kirkland, NY (September 4, 2025) – 22-year-old Patricia Cerda of Wellesley, Massachusetts, was injured in a one-car rollover crash on Thursday afternoon on Fountain Street in the town of Kirkland.
The crash occurred while Cerda was traveling southbound. Authorities reported that she may have been distracted and driving at an inappropriate speed for the wet road conditions. Her vehicle left the shoulder, struck a utility pole, and rolled over, leaving her trapped inside.
First responders, including the Oneida County Sheriffs, the New York State Police, and local EMS crews, extricated Cerda from the vehicle. She was transported to Wynn Hospital in Utica for treatment. Her injuries have been described as non-life-threatening.
The crash caused the temporary closure of Fountain Street while National Grid repaired the damaged utility pole. The roadway has since reopened. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and no tickets have been issued at this time.
Emergency crews, including the Clinton Fire Department, Central Oneida County Volunteer Ambulance Corps, and Clinton Collision, assisted at the scene.
We wish Patricia Cerda a full and speedy recovery.
