Rochester, NY (October 2, 2025) – A 16-year-old boy was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after crashing a stolen Kia Sportage into another vehicle in Rochester, according to police.
The crash occurred just after 3:30 p.m., 1st October, 2025, at the intersection of Epworth Street and Dr. Samuel McCree Way. Investigators said four teens were driving the stolen vehicle recklessly, including through nearby school ballfields. The Kia was reportedly traveling the wrong way on Epworth Street when it struck another car head-on.
The 16-year-old driver, a city resident, was trapped in the SUV and transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening upper-body injuries. The three teen passengers — a 14-year-old boy, a 15-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl — fled the scene but were quickly apprehended. The 15-year-old boy and girl were treated at a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, while the 14-year-old was unharmed.
The two occupants of the other vehicle, a man and a woman, were hospitalized for complaints of pain. A pedestrian was also struck but did not require treatment.
