Schoharie, NY (September 14, 2025) – Two individuals died following a single-car crash off Rickard Hill Road in Schoharie, NY, on September 14, 2025. New York State Police are actively investigating the incident where the vehicle subsequently caught fire.
At about 12:56 a.m. on September 14, 2025, Troopers responded to the area near the intersection of Rickard Hill Road and Mossy Cliff Lane. The investigation determined Delwin C. Shaver, 59, of Kissimmee, FL, was driving eastbound on Rickard Hill Road when his vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree.
Mr. Shaver was pronounced dead at the scene. Passenger Sybil Laraway, 50, also from Kissimmee, FL, was removed from the burning vehicle by bystanders. She was transported to the Albany Medical Center, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The fatal crash investigation remains ongoing with the State Police.
