Homer, NY (August 17, 2025) – A teen driver collided with a motorcyclist at the intersection of South West Street and Cayuga Street on August 17 around 10:47 a.m. The 18-year-old female driver failed to stop at a red light while traveling westbound on Cayuga Street and struck a motorcycle operated by a 68-year-old Syracuse man heading southbound on South West Street.
Witnesses and surveillance footage from a nearby business confirmed that the driver failed to yield the right of way. Additionally, a witness reported seeing the driver using a cell phone at the time of the collision.
The motorcyclist sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse by TLC Ambulance.
The driver was cited for running a red light, failing to yield the right of way, and operating a vehicle while using a cell phone.
Homer Police were assisted by New York State Police, Homer Fire Department, and TLC Ambulance. The identities of the individuals involved have not been released.
