Voorheesville, NY – Teen Driver Survives Collision with CSX Train

Vehicle accident at Dewey Ave and Augustine St, Rochester

Voorheesville, NY (August 18, 2025) – A 16-year-old female driver narrowly escaped serious injury after her car was struck by a CSX train in Voorheesville. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Main Street and Prospect Street.

According to Albany County Sheriff Craig D. Apple, Sr., the teenager attempted to bypass the stop arms at the railroad crossing as the train approached. The train collided with the vehicle, pushing it off the tracks.

The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported to Albany Medical Center for further evaluation.

CSX is cooperating with the ongoing investigation, and dash camera footage from the train captured the incident. Authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.
