East Syracuse, NY – Winfield & Marjorie Babcock Injured in Rollover Crash on Collamer Rd

Couple in their 90s hospitalized after rollover crash on Collamer Road

East Syracuse, NY ( 21 November 2025) – Winfield Babcock, 92, and Marjorie Babcock, 91, were hospitalized after a rollover crash on Friday evening on Collamer Road in East Syracuse.

According to Syracuse police, the crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. when Winfield Babcock struck a legally parked vehicle on the 7400 block of Collamer Road. The impact caused him to lose control, and the vehicle rolled before coming to rest on its roof. His wife, Marjorie, was in the passenger seat.

Manlius Police, Onondaga County Sheriff’s deputies, and New York State Police responded, closing a portion of the roadway for several hours during the investigation. Both victims were transported to Upstate Hospital, where Marjorie was treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Winfield remains in serious but stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Rollover Crashes Involving Elderly Drivers

Rollover collisions can result in severe trauma, especially for older adults who are more vulnerable to impact-related injuries. Even when a parked vehicle is involved, investigators must evaluate contributing factors such as roadway conditions, vehicle handling, driver visibility, and potential medical events before determining fault.

Families affected by rollover crashes often face significant medical costs, long-term care needs, and insurance challenges. Early legal guidance can help preserve evidence and clarify liability.
