Bedford County, PA (May 18, 2026) – A tractor operator was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries after a three-vehicle crash on Lincoln Highway in West Providence Township on Monday.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, the crash occurred around 8:21 a.m. along the 11000 block of State Route 30. A westbound Pontiac G6 struck the rear of a Ford F250 supercab that was acting as a safety vehicle for a John Deere tractor ahead of it. The Pontiac driver allegedly admitted to being distracted by his cellphone. The impact forced the Ford into the tractor, pushing it onto the right guide rail before it rolled over onto the roadway.
The tractor operator was ejected from the vehicle and transported to Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown with life-threatening injuries. The other two drivers were not injured. The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet released the names or ages of those involved.
Rear-End Collisions and Distracted Driving in Pennsylvania
Rear-end collisions are among the most common types of vehicle accidents in Pennsylvania, and distracted driving is a leading cause. When a driver admits to cellphone use at the time of a crash, it establishes a critical foundation for liability.
What attorneys and investigators examine:
- Cell phone records showing calls, texts, or app usage at the time of the crash
- Crash reconstruction analysis to determine speed and stopping distance
- Whether the at-fault driver maintained a safe following distance
- Witness statements and any available dashcam footage
Pennsylvania’s comparative negligence standard:
Pennsylvania follows a modified comparative fault rule (42 Pa.C.S. § 7102). An injured person may recover compensation as long as they are found to be 50 percent or less at fault for the accident.
Your filing deadline:
Pennsylvania’s statute of limitations for personal injury claims is two years from the date of the accident (42 Pa.C.S. § 5524). This crash occurred on May 18, 2026 — your deadline is May 18, 2028.
