Guilderland, NY (November 16, 2025) – A driver was injured Sunday morning after their vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a telephone pole along Western Avenue near Prospect Hill Cemetery, according to the Guilderland Police Department.

The crash happened around 9:50 a.m. on 16th Nov, 2025, bringing down wires and forcing authorities to close all eastbound lanes and one westbound lane between Devonshire Drive and Winding Brook Drive. Two lanes have since reopened. The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Police also issued several vehicle and traffic law violation tickets in connection with the incident.

Utility crews were called to remove damaged wires and stabilize the scene while officers investigated the circumstances surrounding why the vehicle had left the roadway. No other injuries were reported.

What to Know After a Run-Off-Road Crash

Run-off-road collisions often involve factors such as distraction, fatigue, speeding, or unsafe road conditions. Even when only one vehicle is involved, injured drivers or passengers may still have valid claims, especially if hazardous roadway conditions, negligent maintenance, or defective vehicle parts contributed to the crash. Early documentation, police reports, and photographs can make a significant difference in determining fault and preserving rights.
