Cumberland County, PA – Driver Rescued After Being Trapped in Trindle Rd Crash

Driver Rescued After Being Trapped

Cumberland County, PA (February 9, 2026) – A serious two-vehicle collision on Saturday morning, February 7, 2026, required an intensive, 30-minute rescue operation to free a trapped motorist. The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Trindle Road and South Middlesex Road.

According to the New Kingstown Fire Company, the crash involved a small passenger vehicle and a black pickup truck. The impact was severe enough to pin the driver of the smaller vehicle inside the wreckage. First responders arrived to find the driver’s lower limbs crushed by the dashboard, necessitating an “extensive dash roll”—a technical rescue maneuver where hydraulic rams are used to lift the dashboard off the victim.

Despite negative wind chills, firefighters from New Kingstown and Carlisle worked for more than half an hour, using hydraulic cutters, spreaders, and saws to remove the roof and three doors of the vehicle. Once freed, the driver was immediately transferred to EMS for transport to a local hospital. The condition of the driver and the identity of those involved have not yet been released. The driver of the pickup truck was not reported to have been transported for injuries.

Car Accident in Pennsylvania

Accidents involving entrapment and “crush” injuries often result in long-term medical complications, including nerve damage and orthopedic issues. Under Pennsylvania law, victims of serious collisions have the right to pursue compensation for their medical expenses, specialized rehabilitation, and pain and suffering.

Establishing liability in intersection accidents requires a thorough investigation into traffic signals, vehicle speeds, and potential driver distraction. An experienced Pennsylvania auto accident attorney serves as a dedicated advocate, securing vital evidence such as available traffic camera footage. This professional oversight is essential to ensure that insurance carriers provide the full coverage necessary for a recovery, especially when life-altering injuries are involved.

Pennsylvania legal deadlines are strict. While the general statute of limitations for personal injury is two years, delay can lead to the loss of physical evidence or the fading of witness memories. If hazardous road conditions or poor signal timing contributed to the crash, a formal notice of claim against a government entity may be required within just six months. Prompt action is necessary to protect your rights and ensure your family is supported during the healing process.
