3-Year-Old Boy Seriously Injured After Being Struck

Lycoming County, PA (May 19, 2026) – A 3-year-old boy was seriously injured Tuesday evening after being struck by a car while attempting to cross Route 405 in Clinton Township.

Pennsylvania State Police say the young child was trying to cross Route 405 near its intersection with Sherwood Drive, close to Montgomery, just before 7 p.m., when he was struck by a sedan. The boy was transported to the hospital with serious injuries. Authorities have not released the child’s name, and there is no word yet on his current condition.

The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. Authorities have not yet released additional information about the driver involved.

Car Accident Rights for Children and Families in Pennsylvania

When a child is hit by a vehicle, families face not only the trauma of their child’s injuries but also the challenge of navigating Pennsylvania’s legal system. Under Pennsylvania’s modified comparative negligence standard, you can recover compensation as long as you’re found to be 50 percent or less at fault. In cases involving young children, the law recognizes that a toddler or small child cannot be held responsible; fault typically rests with the driver. Your family may be entitled to compensation for medical bills, ongoing treatment, long-term care needs, pain and suffering, and other damages related to the crash.

Pennsylvania gives families two years from the accident date to file a personal injury claim, though this timeline can be extended when the victim is a minor. However, critical evidence disappears fast—surveillance footage gets deleted, accident scene conditions change, and witnesses forget details. Consulting a qualified car accident attorney in northern PA right away helps preserve the evidence you need and protects your child’s right to full compensation while you focus on their recovery.
