Charles F. Kenney (50) Killed in Southern State Parkway Crash

North Bellmore, NY (December 15, 2025) – A Seaford man was killed late Sunday night following a single-vehicle crash on the Southern State Parkway in the Town of Hempstead, marking the second fatal crash on the parkway that day.

The New York State Police (NYSP) responded to the scene at approximately 10:35 p.m. on the eastbound side of the parkway, east of Exit 25S (Newbridge Road). The investigation determined that Charles F. Kenney, 50, of Seaford, was driving a 2023 black Ram pickup truck at an unsafe speed and was not wearing his seatbelt when he lost control of the vehicle.

The truck left the roadway and collided with the stone wall of the Newbridge Road overpass. Mr. Kenney sustained serious physical injuries and was transported to the Nassau University Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased. His vehicle came to rest blocking the center and right lanes of the parkway.

Analyzing Wrongful Death and Insurance Claims in Single-Vehicle Fatalities

The tragic death of Charles F. Kenney in this single-vehicle crash initiates a potential Wrongful Death claim, but the ability of his estate or family to recover compensation is complicated by the preliminary findings of the State Police investigation. The report notes two significant factors of negligence on the part of the deceased driver: traveling at an unsafe speed and not wearing a seatbelt.
