Farmington, NY – One Person Injured in Three-Tractor-Trailer Crash on Eastbound I-90

One Person Injured in Three-Tractor-Trailer Crash

Farmington, NY (May 29, 2026) – One driver was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries after three tractor-trailers collided on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 between Hook Road and County Road 8 in Farmington, Ontario County, Friday morning, according to New York State Police.

Heavy tows were on scene removing the damaged vehicles following the 5:30 a.m. crash. Eastbound traffic was diverted at Exit 44, causing a lengthy backup on Route 96 between Farmington and Manchester, where motorists were able to re-enter the Thruway at Exit 43.

New York State Police are leading the investigation into the cause of the crash. Anyone with information about the collision or who witnessed the events leading up to it is encouraged to contact New York State Police.

Your Legal Rights After a Serious Tractor-Trailer Crash on the New York State Thruway

Multi-truck crashes on major highways like I-90 often involve complex questions of liability. Commercial truck crashes can involve multiple responsible parties, including trucking companies, freight brokers, cargo loaders, and vehicle maintenance contractors. If you or a loved one was seriously injured in this crash or a similar commercial vehicle accident, understanding your rights early is critical.

Who may be responsible:

  • The driver or drivers of the tractor-trailers involved in the collision
  • The trucking company or motor carrier that employed or contracted the driver
  • A freight broker or shipper responsible for cargo loading and securement
  • A vehicle maintenance company if a mechanical defect contributed to the crash
  • Any third party whose negligence may have triggered the chain-reaction collision

What attorneys and investigators examine:

  • Electronic logging device and black box data from each tractor-trailer
  • Driver hours-of-service records and FMCSA compliance logs
  • Vehicle inspection and maintenance records for all three trucks
  • Cargo securement and load distribution documentation
  • New York State Police crash reconstruction reports and witness statements
  • Surveillance footage and traffic camera recordings from the I-90 corridor
  • Weather, road, and lighting conditions at the time of the 5:30 a.m. crash
  • Prior safety violations or citations on record for any of the carriers involved

Important deadline:

  • In New York, most personal injury claims from commercial truck accidents must be filed within three years of the crash date. Claims involving government entities may carry shorter notice deadlines. An Upstate New York truck accident attorney can preserve critical evidence and protect your rights before those deadlines pass.
