Three Hospitalized After Rollover Crash at North Plymouth Avenue

Rochester, NY (April 26, 2026) – Three people, including a 76-year-old woman, a 77-year-old man, and a 39-year-old woman, were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital following a two-vehicle rollover crash at a Rochester intersection Sunday afternoon.

The collision occurred at the intersection of North Plymouth Avenue and Morrie Silver Way at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Sunday. According to the Rochester Police Department, a sedan traveling east on Morrie Silver Way struck an SUV at the intersection, causing the SUV to roll over.

The Rochester Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted in removing two occupants from the overturned SUV, the 76-year-old woman and the 77-year-old man. The driver of the sedan was identified as a 39-year-old woman. All three victims are Rochester residents and were transported by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

No charges have been filed at this time. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the collision is encouraged to contact the Rochester Police Department.

Intersection Rollover Crash Liability Under New York Traffic Law

Rollover crashes at intersections often involve serious and complex questions of liability. In New York, the law follows a pure comparative negligence standard, meaning that even if an injured party is found partially at fault for an accident, they may still recover compensation, though their award will be reduced in proportion to their share of fault. This principle is particularly important in intersection crashes, where determining right-of-way and the actions of each driver are central to any legal claim.

New York’s no-fault insurance system also requires that injured victims first seek Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits through their own insurer for medical bills and lost wages, up to $50,000. However, when injuries are serious, such as broken bones, significant disfigurement, or limitations on daily activities, victims may be eligible to step outside the no-fault system and pursue additional compensation for pain and suffering under New York Insurance Law § 5102(d). Because rollover crashes frequently result in significant trauma, victims should understand their full range of legal options. Given that New York’s statute of limitations for personal injury claims is three years, prompt action is essential to preserve evidence such as surveillance footage, witness statements, and vehicle data. Working with an experienced Rochester car accident attorney can help injured victims in Monroe County protect their rights and pursue the compensation they deserve.
