Lower Nazareth, PA – Edward Segreaves & Lucas Snyder Killed in Route 191 Crash

Edward Segreaves & Lucas Snyder Killed in Route 191

Lower Nazareth, PA (February 24, 2026) — Two local men were killed Sunday evening in a violent two-vehicle collision on Route 191 (Nazareth Pike) as a historic winter storm began to batter the Lehigh Valley. The accident occurred just after 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Gradwohl Switch Road.

According to the Northampton County Coroner’s Office, 59-year-old Edward A. Segreaves was operating a pickup truck and was the sole occupant of his vehicle. He was tragically pronounced dead at the scene. The second driver, 22-year-old Lucas A. Snyder, was operating a sedan. Emergency responders performed a difficult extrication to remove Snyder from his heavily damaged vehicle before transporting him to St. Luke’s Hospital – Anderson Campus. Despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

Coroner Zachary R. Lysek ruled the cause of death for both men as blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, with the manner of death officially listed as accidental. The collision occurred as the “Blizzard of 2026” intensified, creating treacherous road conditions and diminishing visibility. Nazareth Pike remained closed for several hours between Daniels Road and Jandy Boulevard while the Colonial Regional Police Department conducted its investigation.

Car Accident in Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, the legal aftermath of a fatal accident is heavily influenced by the state’s “choice no-fault” insurance system. Regardless of who is determined to be at fault, the victims’ own insurance policies typically provide first-party medical and funeral benefits. However, when a collision results in a fatality, the “serious injury” threshold is met, allowing the estates of the deceased to file wrongful death and survival actions against a negligent party to recover damages for lost future earnings, pain and suffering, and the loss of companionship.

When weather is a factor, liability is often determined by the principle of “driving too fast for conditions.” Pennsylvania law requires motorists to adjust their speed to account for hazards like snow, ice, or low visibility. If the police investigation or an independent accident reconstruction determines that one vehicle crossed the center line or failed to maintain control due to inappropriate speed for the blizzard conditions, that driver (or their estate) may be held liable for the resulting tragedy.

Grieving families often face immense pressure from insurance companies to settle quickly. An experienced Pennsylvania auto accident attorney serves as a dedicated advocate by securing critical evidence—such as vehicle “black box” data, road maintenance records, and witness statements—before they are lost. This ensures that the families of Mr. Segreaves and Mr. Snyder receive the answers they deserve and that all potential sources of insurance coverage are identified. Taking prompt action is a necessary step to protect the legal rights of the survivors during a devastating time of loss.
